Shop Local This Game Day: A Guide to Downtown Stillwater's Main Street.

Stillwater Oklahoma Ann Morgan

This Saturday, October 10, UCF makes its first-ever trip to Boone Pickens Stadium, and Stillwater is going to be full. If you're in town for the game (or hosting family who is), do yourself a favor: don't just come for kickoff and leave. Downtown Stillwater's Main Street is a few minutes from campus, and it's worth the stop before or after the game.

As someone who calls this town home and does business here every day, I love any excuse to point people toward Main Street - so here's your game-day guide to sticking around and shopping local.

Why Shop Local This Weekend

Every dollar spent downtown stays close to home - it supports the small business owners who make Stillwater feel like Stillwater, not just another college town. Game weekends bring more visitors through downtown than almost any other time of year, and that foot traffic matters to these businesses in a real way.

Where to Go on Main Street

Downtown Stillwater covers more than 11 blocks of shopping and dining, so there's genuinely something for everyone — but a few spots are especially worth carving out time for on game day:

  • Grab breakfast or brunch before kickoff at a downtown staple like Hatch - a great way to fuel up before heading to the stadium.
  • Coffee lovers should swing by Balanced Coffee Co. or Aspen Coffee Company for a proper cup before the crowds hit.
  • Browse local boutiques like 405 Mercantile for game-day gear and gifts you won't find at a big-box store.
  • Stick around after the game at Stonecloud Brewing Co. or Empire Slice to relive the win (or commiserate) with the rest of the crowd.
  • If you're downtown later in the evening, Main Street's restaurant scene keeps going well past the final whistle.

This is just a starting list - Main Street has dozens of independently owned shops and restaurants worth exploring, and half the fun is discovering a new favorite.

More Than Just Game Day

Downtown Stillwater isn't just a game-day destination - it's the heart of this community year-round, home to the Stillwater History Museum, the OSU Museum of Art, and events like the Third Friday celebrations (the next one is October 16, if you want a reason to come back) and the annual Holiday Parade. If you're new to town or thinking about making Stillwater home, downtown is one of the best places to get a feel for what makes this community special.

Whether you're here for one game or thinking about calling Stillwater home, I'd love to show you around - both the neighborhoods and the local spots that make this town what it is.
